What is network security?

Network security refers to the provisions and policies adopted by the a company’s information security staff, and by the company itself, to prevent and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification, or denial of the computer network and network-accessible resources. It is one component of Information Security (see What is Information Security?).

Network authorization is a process whereby a network administrator grants users acces to a certain set of programs, data, and information as part of the company’s information network.
